Huckleberry Hideaway

 Your Huckleberry Friend!

Our stay at the Huckleberry Hideaway was nothing short of magical. The Huckleberry is ensconced in nature’s beauty- surrounded by towering trees, and neighbored by the granite sculptures that evoke an introspective process and reflection during your stay. The fresh air demands to be gulped in deep breaths, which are often stolen by the incredible views of the valley below, or clearings in the snow-covered woods. ~ Ryan S.

Sublime— that’s the Huckleberry Honeymoon Hideaway. The placement of it couldn’t have made for a more private, deeply peaceful and beautiful setting. The long view to the Lucerne Hills across Taunton Bay from the second story deck is so engaging, it makes you just want to stay put. Look to the left and you’re looking over the west end of the Sacred Circle of Intent, the standing stone circle David built for our wedding.

Oh, but there’s much more that awaits you, the hot tub beckons in the early morning quiet. Fall and Winter it’s the place to watch the sunset from. It’s a great place to return to after a long day hiking in Acadia National Park.

The Huck has radiant heat in the tiled floors, such a treat under your feet 🙂 The little Jotul stove is very easy to operate and oh so cheery. You may find yourself wanting a less than perfect day so you can justify sleeping in late on the very comfy beds or lounging with a good book and a cup of tea on the window seat where you can keep an eye out for deer, porcupines, turkeys. Who cares if it rains or snows?

Everybody comments on the energy of the Huckleberry. David planed every finish board. The lumber came from the retreat. I laid every tile. There’s granite from the retreat for the hearth and to hang your towel to dry on. The builders contributed their unique touches, some you’ll notice though most flow so seamlessly contributing to the overall feeling of a perfect peace…

And then guests have the most amazing place, Light Heart Retreat to explore.  Located at the end of a dirt road with trails through old growth forest and pristine granite quarries that warm up in summer’s sun to a very comfortable temperature– this is truly, where heaven touches earth.

Did I mention the wood-fired sauna and our little freestanding library for holistic health and spirituality resources, as well as more main stream DVDs and videos for entertainment?

Summer comes first to mind when most people are planning their vacation. The Huckleberry Hideaway is open year round and there are so many joys to be experienced here and locally in each and every season.
